Shops and Supermarkets
Ioanna's Supermarket - Melitsa
Ioanna, Kostas and their daughter run this well stocked little supermarket.
Ioanna is usually on duty whilst Kostas is working somewhere on the beach.
Kostas was in the Greek merchant navy and knows many UK seaports.
Their little shop in Meltsa contains everything you need for day to day
hopping including fresh fruit and vegitables, milk, butter, meat, alcohol
and cigarettes, etc.
Sometimes in the evening you will find the family sitting outside in the
cool of the evening and having an end of day drink.
Supermarket - Melitsa / Peroulades
This supermarket is about half way to Peroulades. There is another in
Peroulades but during the heat of the day it is usually shut. This may be
the last time to get those cigarettes or that ice-cream.
The friut and veg are well worth looking at. Including potatoes for those
keen enough to peel them. The rest of the shop has just about everything
for the family who are self catering, including a vast array of liquid
sustenance.
Shop - Peroulades
Probably one of the oldest shops in the area. The present shop is about
50 years old but the 'old' shop which itself was in use for 50 years is
just a few doors away. Grandfather, father and now son. This emporium
is quite an eye opener. It really is like stepping back in time.
In the evenings there is always a few villagers sitting outside discussing
local gossip. During the heat of the day the shop shuts. No concessions
to tourism here.
